I have a question: what's the use of the high side port on the refrigerant circuit? Why is there a high pressure gauge on the manifold when all you need is the low press & gas supply pressure gauge?

    Hello Scotty. My 2008 honda pilot AC is not working the clutch is not engaging. I checked the pressure it's zero. When I tried to charge it and force the compressor to run by shorting the relay pins, using an electronic detector, I detected a leak around the compressor and clutch. Is the compressor leaking or is it ok for it to leak a little during initial charging?

    Scotty didn't make any mistakes here but a couple of things he didn't carefully emphasize, could get you into trouble, if you don't do them correctly. 1. When you tighten any of the female hose ends onto their male counterparts, don't overtighten, as you can easily damage the cylindrical rubber seals inside the female hose ends. Finger tighten until you feel the rubber seal inside the female connector bottom out on the male connector, then tighten just a little more, enough to prevent the connector from unscrewing. Nice and snug with your fingers, but not as hard has you possible can with your fingers. And it may be best not to use a pliers. You could use a pliers as Scotty is shown doing, but a pliers, with its long handle, makes it easy to overtighten. So if you don't yet have enough experience to know how much to tighten the connector, be very careful how tight you make the connection. 2. Scotty says start the car, then open the valve. He is shown opening the correct valve, the one on the left, which is traditionally connected to the low side. But Scotty doesn't say low side. He just says "valve." Normally you would only open that low side valve. With a system that is already full, and you are using those little 12 or 18 ounce cans of refrigerant, and you were to open the high side valve on the gauge set, theoretically the pressure in the car's ac may be more than the pressure in a fully pressurized can, and refrigerant could go from the car to the can, rather than from the can to the car, raising the pressure in the can higher than it is made to safely hold, and thus rupture the can, and send shrapnel into your body. Without special equipment for charging from the high side it is safest to only charge from the low side. Open only the low side valve on the gauge set, and not the high side valve.

    I vacuumed the system and it held vacuum, but then realized I need a new pulley so wasn't able to charge yet. It's been a few weeks. The drier was new but now do I need to replace it again?

    Does anyone know why I might not be able to pull enough vacuum? I pulled 26 inHg and it holds, but my manual says I need to pull 29.5 inHg. I can only think of trying a different vacuum pump.

    Hey Scotty… love all your vids. If I let all the r134a out of my system and vac it out, will I need to replace the oil. I'm handicapped and trying not to have to pull the compressor to dump the oil and refill. Thank you for your time. Johnny
